The Magic Circle is a tonal collaboration between Midwife and Fowl Sounds with art by HellPix. The concept was to get Midwife's tone in one box and so much more. With overdrive, delay and modulated high pass filter, the possibilities are almost endless.
 The overdrive is derived from a classic but with several clipping options and a darkened vibe that fits perfect in the mix. Whether you’re strumming chords or playing arpeggiated notes, you will love the wall of sound it creates.
The High Pass filter is intended to emulate the iconic telephone mic but sounds amazing on all stringed instruments to. Maybe you just need to add some clack to your guitar but, don’t be afraid to go into full blown “toy” mode.  In standard mode the HPF will vary from 20hz to 1khz depending on knob placement. In modulated mode the HPF will start sweeping at 20hz and go closer and closer to 1k as the depth is increased. At its extreme it leaves the audible range to create a completely unique tremolo effect. Combine this tremelo with the delay a reverse delay sound.
The delay was modeled after a classic but with longer delay time, higher headroom and more versatility. This was achieved by using a unique combination of the FV 1 chip and a plethora of analog filtering, compression and feedback paths. The Delay sweeps from 50mS to 1 S.  As a final touch, tails switching has been added to the on/off feature for a more natural feel.
 
The Magic Circle is not true bypass but is armed with high headroom audio grade buffers that will most likely improve your dry tone. All switching is soft click with a special momentary feature. Tap footswitch to turn effect on and off. Or, from the off position hold down switch for longer than 500mS and the LED will start blinking to indicate momentary mode. The effect will stay engaged as long as the footswitch is held down.
